Community Service

Community Service gives our students a sense of responsibility, the benefit of sacrifice, tolerance, and how to fill idle time wisely. By volunteering, our children learn what it means to make and keep commitments. A wonderful, empowering message for our students is that he or she is important enough to have an impact on someone or something else. Working on community service projects brings students in touch with people of different backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, ages, and education and income levels. They find that even the most diverse individuals can be united by common values. They learn how to be on time, do their best, and be proud of the results. Learning to work as a team member, taking on leadership roles, setting project goals - these are all skills that are gained by volunteering and will serve our students well in any future endeavors.

Students participate in class and school-wide community service opportunities as well as individually. In grades 5-8, students are required to serve at least 5 hours of service per trimester.
