Ms. Kauffmann's Language Arts Homepage for Grades 6, 7, 8
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 ESV
Welcome to a new school year, St. Paul Students!
I look forward to learning with all of my students, both new and returning.
I accept full-credit homework on the day it is due. This is to prepare students for the rigorous expectations of high school. I will accept homework for half credit after the due date. If you were absent and need to make up an assignment, you have however many days you were absent plus one to make it up.
Grade Update Policy
I update grades every Friday after school. Whatever I have not gotten to I will complete on Monday.
*Forgot your homework assignment? Check on my homework page! I will be posting the evening's homework at the end of each school day.
**Students must read for 30 minutes every school day (including Friday) and school night (including Sunday). Think of how much you're exercising your imagination!
Students: Be sure to fill out your monthly reading log!
Grades 6-8 Vocabulary
Students will have a vocabulary quiz every Friday. Their vocab words are taken from a challenging text introduced on Monday. Students will be given a handout each Tuesday, which they will fill out on their own in order to learn and study for Friday's quiz.

This is Ms. Kauffmann's second year at St. Paul School, and she could not be more excited to begin! Now in her third year of teaching, she graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2014 with a B.A. in English Literature, a B.S. in Secondary Education, and a minor in vocal performance. She encourages all of her students to read daily and to find joy in words and song. When she's not busy at school, Ms. Kauffmann enjoys reading novels, writing stories, growing plants, and playing music.
